Progressive metal stamping is a cutting and forming process that transforms coiled sheet metal into precision components through a series of stamping stations. Stewart EFI’s expertise in progressive die stamping enables OEMs to produce complex parts efficiently, with repeatable quality and engineered cost savings.
With over 70 high-speed Minster and Bruderer presses, capacities up to 200 tons, and advanced in-house tooling, Stewart EFI supports high-volume production of both standard and intricate components for industries including automotive, medical, and military.
A progressive stamping die contains a sequence of stations that incrementally cut and form the metal strip into the desired component. As the strip moves through the die:
Finished parts are ejected, either discrete or attached to a carrier strip for reels.
The linear travel per press stroke, known as feed progression or pitch, ensures each part aligns within thousandths of an inch. Conical or bullet-shaped pilots enter pre-pierced holes to maintain exact positioning at every station.
Each die is customized for the part it produces, with components guided in precision-cut openings and actuated by mechanical presses. The feeding mechanism advances the strip from one station to the next with every stroke, allowing simultaneous multi-step forming.
Stewart EFI combines advanced technology and decades of expertise to deliver high-speed, high-quality progressive metal stamping for OEMs worldwide. Our approach ensures precision, repeatability, and cost-efficiency at scale.
With scale, precision, and deep engineering expertise, Stewart EFI delivers progressive metal stamping solutions relied on by OEM supply chains globally.
Progressive metal stamping transforms flat coil stock into intricate components with speed, repeatability, and cost efficiency. By combining multiple operations into one streamlined process, OEMs achieve faster turnaround, tighter tolerances, and lower total cost compared to traditional methods. Stewart EFI applies more than 90 years of expertise and advanced press technology to ensure every part meets the highest standards of quality and consistency.
